Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Safety Division located at 601 Brasilia Ave
Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities - Develops, implements, and maintains the SMS in accordance with FAA regulations and industry best practices.
- Conducts regular reviews and updates of the SMS policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Coordinates SMS activities and safety initiatives across both MCI and MKC airports.
- Monitors safety performance indicators and metrics.
- Analyzes safety data to identify trends, hazards, and risks.
- Prepares and present safety performance reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
- Conducts safety risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Facilitates hazard identification and safety reporting processes.
- Ensures timely investigation and resolution of safety incidents and near-misses.
- Develops and delivers safety training programs for airport staff and stakeholders.
- Promotes a positive safety culture through communication, education, and awareness campaigns.
- Organizes safety meetings, workshops, and seminars.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Serves as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities on SMS matters.
- Prepares for and participate in safety audits and inspections.
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including airlines, tenants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Fosters strong relationships with airport users and the aviation community to support SMS objectives.
- Assists in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Participates in emergency exercises and drills.
- Provides guidance and support during emergency situations to ensure safety.
Qualifications REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport; OR High School graduation and 6 years of experience airport operations, airport regulatory compliance, or oversight of building and/or construction operations at an airport.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
