Instructional Aide/Paraeducator Behavioral Specialist Program

Schedule: Part-time, M,T,Th,F Coaches: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm & W 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: Val Verde Unified School District
Expected Hourly Rate: $25/hour
Start & End Date: 09/16/2024-05/30/2025

THE ROLE

• Collaborate with teachers to provide direct instruction and support to small groups or individual students.
• Act as a positive role model and build strong connections with students.
• Assist teachers in all aspects of the classroom, including maintaining a safe environment, managing supplies, and preparing instructional materials.
• Assist with assessing student progress, grading, and providing support when needed.
• Predict teacher needs, anticipate student behavior, and problem-solve effectively within the classroom.
• Invest in seeing the classroom from different perspectives and use your passion for language arts, math, and reading to make learning fun and engaging for all 

students.

 

ABOUT YOU

• Comfortable supporting teachers in creating a positive learning environment for students.
• Assisting teachers with classroom preparation of materials and equipment
• Supervising students during non-instructional times 
• Providing essential academic support to students (e.g., flashcards, drills)
• Grading assignments and maintaining records
• Managing clerical tasks such as filing, copying as needed

Additional Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the United States, complete and pass a Live-Scan background check, and TB screening reimbursed by Elevo. 
• 1-2 years of working experience in education, coaching, child development, or other child-focused experiences strongly preferred.
• Teaching credentials or paraprofessional certification.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Willing to follow COVID-19 protocols outlined by the school.

 

Candidates must be able to engage in the following activities with or without an accommodation:

• Ability to constantly move about to accomplish tasks or move from one place to another frequently.
• Sitting, standing, for long periods. 
• Occasional running and other strenuous physical activity. 
• Ability to move safely on irregular and or uneven terrain regularly.
