Position Overview

The Illustrator / 2D Artist will be responsible for creating stunning 2D artwork that captures the essence of the Wuxia world. This role requires an artist with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of traditional Chinese art, and the ability to translate complex concepts into compelling visual designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Concept Art Creation: Develop detailed concept art for characters, environments, and key visual elements that align with the artistic vision of 9 Yin Sutra.
• Illustration: Create high-quality 2D illustrations for use in-game, promotional materials, and other media, ensuring all artwork reflects the cultural and historical context of the Wuxia genre.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the art director, 3D artists, and other team members to ensure visual consistency and support the overall game design.
• Iteration & Feedback: Participate in feedback sessions, iterating on designs based on input from the art director and other stakeholders.
• Style & Technique: Utilize both traditional and digital painting techniques to create artwork that is both stylistically consistent and visually appealing.
• Asset Production: Assist in the production of 2D assets such as UI elements, textures, and in-game illustrations, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in 2D art or illustration within the gaming industry. Experience with Wuxia-themed projects is a strong plus.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and other digital painting tools. Strong skills in drawing, painting, and an understanding of color theory.

Cultural Knowledge: A deep appreciation for and understanding of traditional Chinese art, history, and the Wuxia genre, with the ability to incorporate these elements into your work.

Artistic Versatility: Ability to work in various art styles, particularly those that reflect traditional Chinese aesthetics.

Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing relevant 2D art and illustration work, with examples that demonstrate your ability to create detailed and culturally accurate artwork.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $85,000 per year Salary is based on experience and includes opportunities for bonuses tied to project milestones and overall success.
