WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The primary role of this position is to aid in the implementation and consistency of the Good Agricultural Practice and Food Safety programs at Bolthouse Fresh Foods. This role will be critical to grower and farm relations and essential to the Food Safety team. Responsible for ensuring all regulatory compliance with Federal, State, Customer, and Company GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements. The GAP Specialist will conduct third party and internal audits in the field and provide support for the facilities as needed.

· Work in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively while maintaining focus and direction in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

· Communicate effectively with all levels of management

· Work directly with the Ag department in program implementation, documentation collection and field monitoring

· Monitor program to ensure program meets internal and customer specifications

· Monitor GAP schedule to ensure all documentation is being completed in a timely manner

· Review documentation to ensure complete and accurate. Assist in training growers and harvesting operations on FSMA, audit and customer requirements

· Reinforce the food safety program

· Maintain food safety documentation in an organized manner

· Assess priorities and show initiative in solving problems

· Coordinate, prepare and conduct Food Safety Internal audits in most or all applicable growing areas but not limited to California, Arizona, Washington, Georgia, Oregon, Canada

· Manage and resolve conflicts effectively

· Coordinate, prepare and conduct third-party audits for outside growers in different growing regions

· Coordinate, prepare and conduct internal and third-party audits for harvest in different growing regions

· Conduct regularly scheduled field visits throughout the growing season

· Manage multiple tasks to completion

· Ensure procedures followed by Bolthouse Fresh Foods employees and labor contractors

· Support the facility and packing sheds with internal audits and training sessions

· Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards

· Investigate and respond to food safety incidents, complaints, and non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions as needed

· Educate/train growers, harvest crews and processing staff on the importance of Food safety guidelines and practices

· Stay informed about industry trends & new regulations to continuously improve our Food Safety programs

· Aid with the implementation of the Ag Food Safety Program for all Bolthouse Fresh Foods in-house farming and outside growers farm operations

· Travel required to multi-site locations

· Travel will also include some overnight stays for inspections, trainings and conferences on an annual basis

· Other duties as assigned

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or one to two years' in related field or combination of both education and experience
  • Experience in conducting third-party food safety inspections or similar regulatory programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Familiar with food safety audit and certification procedures and inspections
  • Capable of working in cross functional teams that may be internal or external to Bolthouse
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Must have experience with word processing, spreadsheets, internet research, databases
  • Excellent English communication, writing and reading skills required
  • Basic map drawing and reading skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with others
  • Valid driver license, good driving record
  • Obtain or ability to obtain a certificate of completion for Global Food Safety trainings & seminars from an accredited food safety organization
  • Ability to travel to multi-site locations and overnight stays when required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in both writing and verbal
  • One to two years' experience in Food Safety/Quality
  • B.S in Agricultural Business or a bachelor’s degree in a related

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work will be conducted in farm and facility areas
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Environmental exposure- seasonal outdoor temperatures
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces in fields
  • Ability to climb up & down Harvest equipment

HOURS & WORKDAYS:

1st Shift – 7:30 AM to 4:30PM; Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be mandatory based on department and business needs.
